Blog Everyday in July?

I have a friend, Randi,  who decided to follow the challenge of blogging everyday in July!  Randi is a superstar when it comes to blogging.  I don't know how she does it with two small ones, but she updates her blog frequently!  While that seems a bit hefty to me, I thought I would make a valiant effort to follow in her footsteps.  She is using this blog as her inspiration! She blogged everyday in May, but let's be real here, we are teachers and that just isn't going to happen.  So, here we go for a blog entry every day in July.

Day 1: The story of your life in 250 words or less...

I was born and raised on a dairy farm near Esbon, Ks.  It's the middle of nowhere people, and it was a farm, and I worked, A LOT! Moving on... I graduated from high school in 2000 and headed to K-State leaving the farm behind for good.  My brothers had both gone to Fort Hays State, but I was determined to create my own path in life, and so off I went:-)

I started majoring in public relations, but I quickly found this was an extremely competitive field in which you would be in the middle of a big corporation to find success.  In Decemeber of 2000, I met Alex.  We started dating, and it was evident pretty quickly we had found our life partners. I made it three semesters before I changed my major to secondary education in English and journalism.

We graduated in May of 2004, and we were married the following weekend.  It was chaotic, and I'm sure our parents hated us for a short while in the midst of all of that planning.  After the wedding, we moved to Topeka where we both had jobs lined up.  We moved into a small two-bedroom apartment together and started the next chapter of our life.

I taught, Alex worked, and we lived in our tiny little apartment for 2 years.  We built our house in 2006 and moved in over labor day weekend.  I was working on my masters degree at this time, and Alex was just starting his as well.

Rowan Blane joined our family on January 9 of 2008!  He rocked my world to say the least.  I am a bit high strung, and I really struggled with the dependence a new baby has on the family unit.  Through the trials of raising a newborn, I graduated with my second degree in May of 2008, and Alex finished his in May of 2009.  I honestly don't remember how we managed it all, but somehow we did. Almost three years after Rowan, we brought Isla Hope home on December 6, 2010.  She was easy, and I had gained a great deal of comfort in this mothering gig by the time Isla arrived.
Rowan Blane~  I loved this outfit!
I graduated as a Reading Specialist in 2009! My parents helping me to celebrate!
Big Al finished his master's degree in civil engineering in 2009! Rowan got to watch him walk across the stage!

We are both at the same jobs we were 10 years ago when we started our after-college life:-)  I can speak with certainty that this is home for a long while, and we are perfectly content with that!

The Crew~
I'm fairly certain that is a great deal longer than 250 words, but there you have it, the story of us;-)
