Week in Pictures~

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!  This week was busy, productive, and a little unexpected, but we all had a blessed week!
The kids were drawing one day before daycare!  Isla wants to be just like Rowan!

Big girl ponytail!

Spiffed up!
Alex and I took off on Friday for his holiday party in Wichita!  We were without kids, and we got to get all fancied up!  It was fun!  The most fun was the quiet car ride all the way down there;-)  We enjoyed the reprieve from real life!

Rowan slept under the Christmas tree one night!  He was so excited!

Alex made the kids biscuits and gravy last Sunday morning!  They were eager with anticipation!

Rowan enjoyed some Apple Cider!
We crafted on Sunday!  We decided our personalities were very clear in our wreaths;-)

On the door!

And then, this happened:-(  We didn't finish on Sunday, so we had to reconvene on Monday.  We were working on 2 more crafts, when I snipped my hand with some VERY sharp scissors.  I ran upstairs to show Alex, and he quickly told me it probably needed a doctor to look at it:-(  Problem, though, was it was 9:00 p.m.  So, we had to patron the ER.  The blessing was that I already had child care with Jenny and Lindsey, but the bummer was it was 9:00 p.m.  Surprisingly, we were back home by 10:40, and I had a few stitches to go with my battle wound:-(  It is healing, and I am thankful for that!
Just call me gimpy!
Jenny and Lindsey clued my reindeer together while I was at the ER.  Aren't they cute!
Rowan's deer!

Isla's deer!

We also made scrap wood Christmas trees!
I also had to take Sassy to the doctor this morning, and he told me she had an ear infection and probably bronchitis.  We started an antibiotic this a.m., and we are hopeful she will start perking up soon!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  Our blessings are many even with the hiccups we had this week!

Week in Pictures~

What a week!

Remember last week, I posted Rowan had gotten the flu from some dear friends:-)  Well, the week went downhill from there!

I stayed home with the kids on Tuesday to make sure Rowan was on the mend, and I apparently picked up his bug.  I woke up about 1 a.m. on Tuesday night feeling icky and sure enough, it was not good.  I spent a great deal of the night traveling back and forth to the bathroom to vomit:-(  Alex got the kids ready the next morning and took them to daycare and then on to work he went.  I crawled back into bed and regained consciousness about 10:45.  I texted Alex that I needed him to bring me some fluids of some sort since I had stopped the persistent trips to the toilet.  He texted back that he was on his way home with the flu as well.  Ugh!

Bless our daycare lady's heart, she actually drove our children to us later that night after she fed them supper!  She really is thoughtful!  We got them cleaned up and to bed, and then we were right behind them that night!

Alex went to work on Thursday as he just couldn't miss, but I really didn't think I was ready for work yet.  I was incredibly weak (I lost 9 pounds), and I spent the day trying to get some strength back.  I at one point tried to pick up the living room, but quickly determined that was way too much work.  I napped most of the day and started to eat again.

Friday I made it to work and everyone appears now to be okay.  We sanitized what we could in the house, and Isla was the last woman standing.  She never did catch it, which baffles the pants off of me, but we are grateful for it!

The 7th graders were thankful for my return as they had 3 different subs during my absence.  I think they were ready for some familiarity again, and I was too!

The weekend was spent putting ourselves back together!  We put up the Christmas tree:-)  and I had breakfast with some neighborhood girls on Saturday.  It was fun, and I'm thankful for my health today!

The kids played on Tuesday drawing!

Sassy LOVES pens.  She's going to draw on a wall some day, I just know it.

Then we moved on to water colors:-)

Posing for Mom!

These two really do love each other!  Isla was telling Row to look at the camera:-)

Cheeeeez!

I love to watch my children sleep.  There is such a peace to it!  Alex sleeps just like this-both hands above the head.  I can't fathom leaving oneself so exposed like this, but it was a sweet sight this night~

Row requested biscuits and gravy and eggs Saturday morning.  Dad obliged!

We watched the WiLdCaTs on Saturday!  Yeah for number 1!

Aunt Reesa even came to watch them too!  Row was a fan!

We put up the Christmas tree!  Rowan is thrilled~

Sassy is doing a pretty good job of leaving it alone!  We had to pose to prove it really is up:-)

Thanksgiving!

I read this devotion this week, and it spoke to me.  Such a fantastic reminder as we embark upon the holiday season.

While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins.LUKE 21:2

"A heap of donations surrounded me: outgrown clothing, discarded stuffed animals, a baby doll with disheveled and torn hair, shoes thin from wear. These items had been packed in old suitcases and dragged to Honduras to be presented as gifts for people who lived miles from running water and the nearest schools or health clinics. We had come to provide health care and gifts, offering a week of time. As we saw the last person at our makeshift clinic, we were presented with a gift. An old woman, her face etched with wrinkles, yet with gentleness in her eyes extended her hands and presented us with a bag of sugar and a chick. At that moment, I couldn’t help but wonder if our gifts had represented a true sacrifice.".  -Kathy Pride

I absolutely love Christmas and giving gifts, but I am constantly reminded that there are many people in this world who do not have the lifestyles we have or even simple things like running water or medicine for their sick babies.  It is all about perspective, and I found this to be a needed reminder to generously give of my time as well as our gifts to those less fortunate than us.

Week in Pictures~

We had a great week, and we wrapped it up with our good friends from the Wichita and Kansas City Areas making their way to watch a fabulous K-State win on Saturday night:-)

We'll ignore the fact that our Wichita friends also brought the flu with them which sent them home early on Sunday! So far Rowan's the only man down at our house. Alex stayed home with him today, and I'll be home with him tomorrow to make sure he is on the mend.  The friendship that shares.  (I'm kidding.)  We love them, and I suppose their company was worth Rowan puking.  Seriously-it was worth it;-)

The K-State game was at 7 p.m., so we put the husbands in charge of our 6 children, and we crafted!  On the list was an adorable fall bunting.  We cut,  folded, and taped and ended up with a frugal fall decoration!  It was fun to create and the kids mostly left us alone.  Mostly;-)

The final product!

Look at all of that creativity flowing.

Krista is trying to find a pattern.

The girls were all born within 3 months of each other.  They have so much fun!

Supper time!  Look at those faces!
The Wondras have a 7 month old who needed a high chair.  The high chair had been in the basement for quite some time, but boy did we find some novelty to it.  Look at this happy face!  She loves to sit in it and quite honestly, I kind of like the fact that she is strapped in again:-)  We'll keep it out for a while until I get annoyed with the amount of space it takes up in my kitchen;-)

Cheese!
There's not a single picture of Rowan on my camera, but he was here this weekend as well!  I'll have to make up for him next week:-)
